Mr. Donald (Willy) Williams, Jr. selected as DoDEA Pacific East Community Superintendent

Yokota, Japan —
Dr. Judith Allen, DoDEA Pacific East Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Donald (Willy) Williams as the Community Superintendent of DoDEA Pacific East District - Yokota, Japan.
As Community Superintendent, Mr. Williams will dedicate himself to listening, inspiring, motivating, and modeling best practices, while working together with all stakeholders to advance the Superintendent’s vision, purpose, and goals. Mr. Williams is excited to get to know each of the students, staff, and stakeholders of the DODEA Pacific East District in the coming year.
“I’m a staunch advocate for student success and believe in student-focused, standards-based, and data-driven instruction to ensure all students have the ability to be successful,” Williams said. “As a team builder, I enjoy working closely with faculty, school staff, students, parents, the community, the command, and other partners to build a common language, trust, and understanding in the school and the community.”
Mr. Williams brings 17 years of experience within DoDEA to the position. A South Carolina native, he began his DoDEA career as a career and technical education (CTE) teacher at Matthew C. Perry Middle High School in Iwakuni, Japan. He then taught at both Mannheim and Ramstein High Schools in Germany before serving as the District Educational Technology Instructional Systems Specialist at the Kaiserslautern District Office in Germany. Mr. Williams has served principalships at Osan Middle High School, Seoul American High School, and Seoul American Middle/High School in South Korea, as well as held assistant principal positions at Aviano and Sigonella Middle High Schools.
“Throughout his tenure, Mr. Williams has successfully leveraged educational technology as a tool to support 21st century teaching and learning and is an uncompromising advocate for standards-based mastery learning by all students,” said Dr. Judith Allen, DoDEA Pacific East Superintendent.
Mr. Williams earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology and Human Resource Development from Clemson University in 2002 and his Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2009.
Mr. Williams replaces Dr. Gregg Mowen, who recently retired from the position.
