Mr. Kirk Thompson named DoDEA-Pacific Region ISS for Information Centers

Department of Defense Education Activity Director for Student Excellence, Ms. Lois Rapp, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Kirk Thompson as Instructional Systems Specialist for Information Centers within the Pacific Region.
Mr. Thompson is a seasoned Library Information Specialist with a rich background in educational methodologies, instructional design, and technology integration.
Mr. Thompson’s professional career spans more than two decades and various educational institutions. Since 2009, he has served as a Library Information Specialist at Stuttgart High School (DODEA) in Germany. In this role, he managed a high school library program, collaborating with educators to seamlessly integrate information literacy into the curriculum. Before his tenure at Stuttgart High School, Mr. Thompson worked in Alaska as a Library Media Specialist at Colony High School and Meadow Lakes Elementary and as a middle school math and English teacher. His career in education began as an elementary classroom teacher in Washington State.
Throughout his career, Mr. Thompson has remained committed to fostering a love of literature and promoting academic success. He brings skills in educational methodologies, information literacy, technical support, collaboration, library management, and professional development to his new role as ISS for Information Centers in the Pacific. Mr. Thompson’s passion for education, libraries, and technology continues to drive his efforts to create engaging and effective learning environments, making a lasting impact on the communities he serves.
Mr. Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN; a Library Science degree from the University of Washington, Seattle; and a Master of Education in Educational Technology from the University of Alaska Southeast.
He is thrilled to join the Pacific Region Team as an Instructional Systems Specialist for Information Centers.
