Mr. Shawn Knudsen selected as Principal for Wiesbaden Middle School

Wiesbaden, Germany —

Dr. Louis D’Angelo, DoDEA Europe Central District superintendent, has announced the selection of Shawn Knudsen as the new principal of Wiesbaden Middle School.

Knudsen began his teaching career at North Sanpete High School in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, where he taught mathematics and physics. He joined the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) in 2000, teaching at MC Perry Middle/High School in Iwakuni, Japan. In 2003, he moved to Osan American Middle/High School in Korea.

In 2014, Knudsen was appointed assistant principal at Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan. Four years later, in 2018, he became principal of Patch Middle School in Stuttgart, Germany, where he has served until his recent move to Wiesbaden.

A native of West Bountiful, Utah, Knudsen earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics teaching with a minor in physics from Weber State University. He later earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Capella University.

Knudsen arrives in Wiesbaden from Stuttgart, Germany, accompanied by his spouse, Jihyun, who is an elementary school teacher.
