Ms. Julie Sarich Instructional Systems Specialist for Autism

Dr. Jacob Sherwood, Pacific West District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Julie Sarich as Instructional Systems Specialist for Autism.
Ms. Sarich joined DoDEA team in 2013 as a Learning Impaired Moderate to Severe teacher at Camp Zama, Japan. She later joined the special education team at Zama Middle High School as a Learning Impaired Mild to Moderate teacher. Most recently, Ms. Sarich was the ISS for Autism and Behavior for Europe East district, stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. She enthusiastically returns to the Pacific region as a member of the Pacific West team.
Ms. Sarich earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education and Secondary English Education from Western Washington University, followed by a Master of Science in Special Education from California Lutheran University. Ms. Sarich has 30 years of experience in public school systems supporting students with autism. She has taught self-contained classes for students with autism in Alaska and on Saipan, as well as mixed-categorical classes in California. Ms. Sarich worked with students from preschool to high school while supporting special education staff, families, and community members as the Autism Specialist for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. She received her Applied Behavior Analysis training from Southern Illinois University and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2013.
Ms. Sarich is passionate about supporting teachers, paraprofessionals, and families as well as working with peers to provide strong educational programs for all students. Ms. Sarich looks forward to working with the Pacific West team to ensure students succeed at the highest learning level possible.Â
Ms. Sarich and her husband, adult daughters, and 2 cats look forward to further exploring the Pacific region.
