Ms. Kimberly Turnage selected as assistant principal for Aviano Elementary School
Aviano, Italy —
Dr. Jeff Arrington, Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Europe South District superintendent, announced the selection of Kimberly Turnage as the new assistant principal for Aviano Elementary School.
Turnage brings extensive experience in education, counseling, and human resources. She holds dual Education Specialist degrees in educational leadership and counseling from Mississippi College, along with a Master of Science in rehabilitation counseling and a Bachelor of Science in special education from Jackson State University.
She began her education career as a special education teacher in the Rankin County School District and later served as a middle school guidance counselor in the Clinton Public School District. Turnage currently serves as a special education teacher with DoDEA in Iwakuni, Japan, where she helps students build academic success, self-discipline, and positive relationships. She is also active in mentoring and tutoring within her community.
In addition to her education background, Turnage has held human resources positions with the Department of the Army’s Civilian Human Resources Agency at Fort Riley, Kansas, and later as a supervisory workforce management specialist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in South Korea.
She is a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society, the Mississippi Association of Educators, and the American Counseling Association. She has also served as chairperson of a special education case study committee. Outside of work, Turnage enjoys exploring different countries, cultures and cuisines.
