Ms. Marian Leverette selected as Interim Principal for Yokota High School

Japan —

Dr. Judy Allen, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce Mrs. Marian Leverette as Interim Principal of Yokota High School. Mrs. Leverette is currently serving as acting principal at Yokota High School.

Mrs. Leverette’s education journey began in 1994. Prior to joining the team at Yokota High School, she has held numerous educational and administrative positions. Mrs. Leverette’s experience includes serving as an instructional leader from the elementary to collegiate level for more than 20 years in Florida, Virginia, California and Rhode Island. She also pioneered a computer fundamentals and business information systems course at Roger Williams University and Hampton University. As the first U.S. Navy Mid-Atlantic Regional School Liaison in the program’s history, she served as an educational advocate for more than 90,000 military-connected students (K-12) and their families on the northeast. She joined DoDEA in 2012, and has taught at Bahrain Elementary, Seoul American Elementary School and spent the last three years as the assistant principal of Yokota High School.

Mrs. Leverette has significant leadership experience as a CSI team member and chair, College and Career Readiness Math Lead for Seoul American Elementary School, assistant principal at a Florida gifted magnet elementary school, and district 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Manager. She has led multiple community service organizations, school improvement programs, and community events for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Leverette served her country (stood the watch) for ten years as a research engineer, computer security officer, and a Helicopter Wing administrative department head in the U.S. Navy before beginning her second career in education. Her spouse is a senior U.S. Naval Officer on active duty stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. They have one daughter ,who is a graduate of Florida State University.

Mrs. Leverette obtained her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering from New York Institute of technology, a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Teaching from Jacksonville University, a Master’s of Education (MEd) degree in Education Leadership from University of North Florida, an Education Specialist (Ed.S) in Educational Leadership and Administration from The George Washington University and currently she is a doctoral degree student at Gwynedd Mercy University completing research for a Doctoral Degree in Education Administration and Policy.

Mrs. Leverette has been at Yokota High school for three years and has played a vital role in serving her school community by providing a safe academic environment where students are inspired to learn and grow guided by Yokota High School’s vision within the Yokota Air Base community.
