Ms. Mary F. Fisk Selected as Principal Ikego Elementary School

Dr. Judy Allen, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Mary Fisk as Principal for Ikego Elementary School.

Mary Fisk relocated from Pennsylvania where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Kindergarten Education from the Pennsylvania State University. She received a Master of Education in School Counseling from George Mason University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Washington University. She believes life-long learning is essential in the field of education and continues to stay abreast of educational research.

Ms. Fisk began her career in education in the fall of 2003 at a small rural elementary school in Partlow, VA. After serving Spotsylvania County Schools as a classroom teacher in third and fifth grades, she moved to Beaufort, SC, where she taught fourth grade at a brand-new charter school. Thereafter, she was the school counselor in Beaufort County until relocating to Iwakuni, Japan. She then worked as a classroom teacher and school counselor at MCAS Iwakuni until she was promoted to assistant principal at the Sullivans School in Yokosuka, Japan. Most recently, Ms. Fisk served as the interim principal at Ikego Elementary in Zushi, Japan. For the past eight years, Ms. Fisk has worked in the DoDEA Pacific region and has felt privileged to promote its vision, purpose, and goals. As an administrator, she is dedicated to building partnerships with stakeholders, ensuring all students receive excellent instruction.

Serving in various leadership roles throughout her educational career, Ms. Fisk presented at the National School Discipline Conference in Las Vegas, NV, was the co-chair and member of the Continuous School Improvement Team, has been the Site Testing Coordinator, served as a member of the Blue Ribbon application committee, assisted with multiple accreditation visits, and served as the co-chair for the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support programs. She was also selected as a TAP Mentor for Teacher and Student Advancement through the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching. Ms. Fisk has implemented research-based strategies, which resulted in improved test scores in all school environments, and enjoys collaborating with her community partners to ensure students’ needs are the top priority.

Ms. Fisk is excited to continue serving the Ikego Firefly Community and is looking forward to cultivating strong relationships with the students, families and educational staff.
