Ms. Megan Hariz Instructional Systems Specialist for ELA Primary Education PK-5

Dr. Jacob Sherwood, Pacific West District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Megan Hariz as Instructional Systems Specialist for ELA Primary Education PK-5. Ms. Hariz, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, earned her bachelor’s degree in 2004 in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. In 2010, she continued her education and received a master’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading instruction from Northern Arizona University. Most recently, she completed an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University in 2021.
Ms. Hariz has had a wide variety of roles throughout her 20 years in the field of education. She started her career as an elementary classroom teacher in both Arizona and Egypt. After receiving her master’s degree, she transitioned out of the classroom and into the role of instructional coach and data assistant working with preschool educators through a US Department of Education funded research project at Virginia Commonwealth University. Upon relocating back to Arizona in 2013, Ms. Hariz served as an elementary reading specialist, Dean of Instruction of a K-8 school, and a district-level instructional coach supporting teachers in the English Language Acquisition Department at both the elementary and high school levels.
Ms. Hariz joined DODEA in 2019 as a Literacy Support Specialist at Humphreys Central Elementary School. While at HCES, she was the school’s Data Chair and a member of the Continuous Improvement Leadership team. In her new role as ISS for ELA PK-5, Ms. Hariz looks forward to using her diverse experiences in education to provide support to educators and students with the goal of educating, engaging, and empowering military-connected students. Ms. Hariz is joined in Korea by her two daughters who currently attend Humphreys Middle School.Â
