Sembach, Germany —

Dr. Louis D'Angelo, DoDEA Europe Central District superintendent, is pleased to announce that Ms. Pamela Wimberly has been selected as Vogelweh Elementary School's new principal.

Ms. Wimberly brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Her teaching career began in 2002 as a special education teacher in Clarksville, Tennessee. She then joined DoDEA in 2005 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where she taught various grades, including second, fourth, and middle school. Her experience spans both special and general education for K-8 students, and she has been a strong advocate for 21st-century teaching and learning practices, including preparing teachers for transitions into modern school buildings.

Ms. Wimberly's commitment to the community is evident in her past roles. In 2016, she was appointed assistant principal at Ramstein Elementary School, becoming the first special education assistant principal in Germany. By 2020, she had moved to Ramstein Middle School, where she redesigned the special education program to maximize student involvement in classroom instruction, leading to significant improvements in math and reading proficiency for students with disabilities. She also provided ongoing community support, launching a student mentoring program and organizing the first complex-wide back-to-school event, both of which have become mainstays in the Ramstein community.

Ms. Wimberly holds dual certifications in general and particular education. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's in education, focusing on curriculum, instruction, and special education, from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. She also holds an education specialist degree in administration and supervision. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in exceptional education leadership at the University of Maryland, with one year remaining in her program.

Ms. Wimberly resides in Virginia with her daughter and granddaughter. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She is excited to join the Vogelweh Elementary School family as the new principal and looks forward to collaborating with the staff, students, and families within this unique community.
