Ms. Sara Guth selected as the Principal of Sigonella Elementary School
Sigonella, Italy —
Dr. Jeff Arrington, Superintendent of the DoDEA Europe South District, is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Sara Guth as the Principal of Sigonella Elementary School. Ms. Guth most recently served as the Assistant Principal of Patch Elementary School in Stuttgart, Germany. In making the announcement, Dr. Arrington remarked, “Ms. Guth brings a wealth of instructional leadership experience to the principalship, and I am confident that she will leverage her talents to continue the great work underway at Sigonella Elementary to improve student learning.”
Ms. Sara Guth has been honored to serve military-connected students for over twenty years in DoDEA schools, inspired by her family’s tradition of military service and her own experiences as a DoDEA student. Her DoDEA journey began in Germany where she taught at Bitburg and Landstuhl. Then she moved to Fort Liberty, NC as a classroom teacher and reading interventionist. After teaching assignments in North Carolina, she returned to Germany to serve as a PK-5 Instructional System Specialist (ISS). She transitioned into the world of school administration in 2022 as the assistant principal of Patch Elementary.
Ms. Guth values lifelong learning whether empowering students, pursuing her personal goals, or taking on new roles as a professional. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2000, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2005 and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Leadership Studies program at Marshall University. She believes in the power of collaborative, reflective, and nurturing partnerships between students, educators, and families.
Ms. Guth and her family enjoy spending time together attending concerts and sporting events, cooking, biking, and hiking with their dog. They love the adventures that a military-connected life offers, such as meeting new people with broad perspectives, traveling the world, and experiencing other cultures. She is eager to join the Sigonella Elementary team and its work keeping students at the heart of all they do.
