Misawa, Japan —

Dr. Judith J. Allen, DoDEA Pacific East District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Teresa Hahn as the principal for Sollars Elementary School on Misawa Air Base, Misawa, Japan, effective for the 2022-23 school year.

Ms. Teresa Hahn joined DoDEA in March 2002 when she was selected as a social studies teacher at Ramstein American Middle School. She later transferred to South Korea where she taught middle school English Language Arts and History at Osan Middle High School. In 2009, she returned to Germany to teach Honors 9 and 10th grade Language Arts as well as AP Art History and AVID.

Prior to being selected as principal of Sollars Elementary School, Ms. Hahn served as the assistant principal at Daegu Middle High School on Camp Walker, South Korea where she opened the first 21st century middle high school on the peninsula and introduced project-based learning to the district. Later, Ms. Hahn journeyed north to serve as assistant principal at Humphreys Middle School on Camp Humphreys.

Ms. Hahn received her BA in Art History and Medieval Studies from Rutgers University. She has earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University as well as a second Master of Education in Teacher Education from Oklahoma University. She is currently working on a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Acacia University.

Ms. Hahn believes that a solid literacy foundation is fundamental for student success. As a former military child and spouse, she values stakeholder involvement and feels a strong school-community partnership is key to promoting high expectations within the school.

Ms. Hahn is excited to become a Sollars ES Dragon and to work with the Misawa Air Base community in support of all military connected students.
