Pacific hosts second in-person Far East esports

DoDEA Pacific held its second in-person Far East esports competition Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2025, at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.

Eleven teams from DoDEA high schools across the region, as well as an international school, competed in the event. This year’s championship featured two titles: Rocket League and Valorant. Rocket League is a three-player game like soccer in which players work together to score a goal while driving cars. Valorant is a five-player game in which teams must eliminate all opposing competitors or deliver or prevent a team from planting a spike. 

After two days of competitive play, Kadena High School earned first place in Rocket League and Zama Middle High School took the top spot in Valorant. Guam High School placed second in both titles.

DoDEA Pacific esports is supported by USO Gaming and is a varsity athletic event offered during the winter season.
