Sembach, Germany —
Dr. Michelle Howard-Brahaney, Department of Defense Education Activity – Europe Director for Student Excellence, announces the selection of Mr. Patrick Martin as the Europe East Chief of Staff for the newly created Europe East District.
Martin, a seasoned educator and leader, will be joining the Europe East District in July 2024 as the District Chief of Staff in Stuttgart, Germany. Europe’s Region Chief of Staff, Dr. Charles Kelker, stated “Patrick will be a great addition to the Europe leadership team and is the perfect candidate to help us set up the new district.”
Martin is currently the Principal at Alconbury Middle High School in the United Kingdom. A native of Upstate New York, he has a rich educational background. He earned his bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/Social Studies from the State University of New York at Oswego; he has a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Washington University and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education.
Mr. Martin started his teaching career as a middle school teacher in the Perris Union High School District in Southern California, where he served on the School Leadership Team for Professional Learning Communities and created the school's first competitive soccer program. His journey in DoDEA began in 2009 as the Education Technology Coordinator at DoDEA Headquarters.
In 2015, Martin graduated from the highly competitive Department of Defense Executive Leadership Development Program, and he served as an education policy specialist at DoDEA Headquarters until his assignment to Alconbury.
Martin is married to his spouse Jackie, also a school teacher, and they have a daughter, Abby (8).
The New DoDEA Europe East District will be established this summer before school year 2024-2025. DoDEA Europe is realigning school districts which includes a creation of a fourth district. This strategic move will ensure that schools, administrators, and students are distributed fairly across each district, foster greater collaboration and synergy among teachers, staff, students, and the local military community.
