Sharkey named Principal of West Point Elementary School

West Point, NY —
DoDEA Mid-Atlantic District would like to welcome Ms. Renee Sharkey to West Point Elementary School as the new Principal. She has been serving as the Professional Learning Instructional Support Specialist for West Point Schools since December 2021. Ms. Sharkey has been an educator since 1992. She believes building solid relationships is crucial to a successful school.
Sharkey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in English Literature and Music from William Patterson University. In addition, she received her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
Sharkey became the Assistant Principal at West Point Elementary School in December 2020. She also served as the administrative lead from June 2021 until September 2021. Before arriving at West Point, Sharkey was the Assistant Principal at McCool Elementary Middle School on Naval Base Guam since 2016. She began her journey with DoDEA in 2015 as a third-grade teacher in Misawa, Japan.
As an administrator, part of her responsibilities includes leading Continuous School Improvement SQF Committees, Professional Development Workshops, student discipline, overseeing the CSC Committee and special education conferences, planning logistics for emergency management, and scheduling and arranging study trips in collaboration with command sponsorship.
Sharkey is excited to begin her new position and continue her partnership with the WPES faculty, students, and the West Point community.
