Worford Selected as DoDEA Superintendent, Mid-Atlantic District

DoDEA Director Tom Brady announced today that Mr. Kent Worford has been selected as the new DoDEA Superintendent for the Mid-Atlantic District.

Worford will be reassigned from his current position in DoDEA Europe West District, where he has been the district superintendent since 2018.

“Kent Worford has been a remarkable Superintendent in the Europe West District and his commitment to student achievement is evident in the district’s recent recognition as a Cognia School System of Distinction during their recent accreditation,” said Brady. “Kent is a thoughtful, highly respected leader. His handling of the COVID-19 pandemic played a major role in his district maintaining the safety of our students and faculty, as well as continuity of education, which is crucial to student success.”

Prior to being superintendent of the Europe West District, Worford served as superintendent and assistant superintendent in Europe South District. Previously, he completed a four-year term as the principal of Lakenheath High School (England), after serving a two-year term as assistant principal at the same school. Prior to that, he completed three years as Assistant Principal at SHAPE Elementary School (Belgium).

Worford's teaching career in DoDEA included assignments at Croughton High School in England and SHAPE High School, where he taught AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), social studies, business and computer science, and coached football, basketball, and track.

Worford holds a Master's Degree in Education and Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Education from the University of Kansas.

DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education programs for school-age children of Department of Defense personnel who would otherwise not have access to high-quality public education. DoDEA schools are located in Europe, the Pacific, Western Asia, the Middle East, Cuba, the United States, Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA also provides support and resources to Local Educational Agencies throughout the United States that serve children of military families.
