English Language Arts (ELA)
DoDEA defines literacy as domains of reading, writing, speaking, and listening across academic disciplines. Our curriculum engages students in both traditional print and interactive multimedia to increase student capacity to be digital citizens and learners. Our standards-based curriculum allows students to research and explore literary and informational text through integrated reading and writing throughout grades K – 12. The DoDEA College and Career Ready Standards for Literacy (CCRSL) are designed to develop student skills in all four domains, each instructional year, becoming more complex as students advance through the grades. Through our course offerings, including Advanced Placement, DoDEA is committed to advancing the literacy skills of all military-connected children to participate fully in our global community.Â
