Roberta Scalise
Ms. Roberta (Robyn) Scalise has been at Kaiserslautern Middle School (KMS) for over 13 years as the Office Automation Technician. While the Secretary was on leave, or KMS did not have one, she consistently arranged weekly for over 30-35 teacher vacancies to be supported by Substitute Teachers. She freely communicated in her time at home, both early in the morning and late at night, to ensure teachers were able to take the necessary time off to take care of their families and health.
In the absence of a Registrar, Ms. Scalise managed family interactions and paperwork, developing processes that led to 100% accountability for new families. She waited after hours for families who were unable to get to school during the duty day.
Ms. Scalise is pleasant, helpful, and action-oriented. She is the first person the community interacts with when entering KMS and the last person to greet them before they leave.
She carefully crafts a weekly Public Relations newsletter and maintains routine communication with all families. She developed a strategy for alerting all families to student absences and tardies with a notice sent every day, keeping everyone in the loop with their child.
Ms. Scalise developed a locker accountability process, stored on Teams so that teachers can access and retrieve student information, allowing transparency so that all teachers can help all students, not just the ones assigned to them. Ms. Scalise brings a joy-filled personality to work every day and she cares about the school and community.
Ms. Scalise is most deserving of this award, as her sustained excellence, attentiveness and commitment to the DoDEA mission bring great credit upon herself, DoDEA, and the Department of Defense.
