DoDEA Launches 2023 Stakeholder Feedback Survey

Department of Defense Education Activity Stakeholder Feedback Survey

Alexandria, VA —

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) will administer a Stakeholder Feedback Survey (SFS) for parents from January 17 through February 4, 2023. The SFS provides valuable feedback to DoDEA from its most important customers - students and parents - about the quality of education provided and areas needing improvement.

All sponsors or spouses with students enrolled in DoD schools from Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 may participate. Parents with multiple children in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade can complete a survey for each of their students. Students in Grades 4-12, school-level educators and support staff, full and part-time, excluding substitutes will be surveyed as well in the coming weeks.

The 2023 DoDEA Stakeholder Feedback Surveys are designed to gather input from parents, students, and school level staff. The survey is voluntary and anonymous. Maximum participation is encouraged to obtain reliable and valid data.

All potential respondents will receive a link to complete a survey using their DoDEA Student Information System email address and will also receive email reminders while the survey is open. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Parents can also access the survey page at DoDEA Stakeholder Feedback Survey (SFS).

Survey questions for parents and students were taken from the California Healthy Kids Survey, the Panorama Equity, and Inclusion Survey (developed in partnership with the Reimagining Integration: Diverse & Equitable Schools Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education), and The Tripod Survey (developed by Harvard and validated by the Gates’ Foundation’s Measures of Effective Teaching Project). Questions relating to school psychological services were modified from the National Association of School Psychologist’s Membership Survey and their statement of professional standards.

DoDEA Director, Mr. Thomas Brady, stressed the importance of the survey to the organization’s commitment to continuous improvement.

"The Stakeholder Feedback Survey provides us with valuable information to direct our efforts at continuous improvement," said Brady. "What we learn from the survey is critical in ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of DoDEA students, parents, and the military communities we serve."

Mr. Brady also emphasized the importance of survey participation.

"I want to encourage all parents, students, and school-level staff to participate in the survey. A high response rate provides our schools with valuable information about their programs and is part of our continual efforts to improve the quality of education provided to students of military and DoD-connected families."

Information derived from the surveys will be used to improve planning efforts at all levels throughout DoDEA. Schools, districts, and areas will use the survey results to gain insight into the satisfaction levels of parents and students, which is one of many measures used for future planning of programs and services offered to DoDEA’s military-connected students. The results will be available later this summer on the DoDEA website.
