The Europe South District's Smart Money Project is a program for educators to apply for programs that support innovative projects they believe will have a direct impact on improving the learning experience and achievement of students in their classrooms. The projects are connected to the school’s continuous improvement action plan and will include activities related to student writing and/or mathematics achievement.Â

STEM DESCRIPTION: The Stellar Explorers: Reach for the Stars-Enhancing Student Achievement through STEM initiative offers a unique and exciting learning opportunity for students to learn and apply CCRS career exploration in aerospace, astronomy and space fields; provides a STEM-based curriculum based on blended learning methodology; and delivers a hands-on, real-time, application using cutting-edge computerized telescope technology.

PROJECT – Podcasting Across the Curriculum
DESCRIPTION – Podcasting has become one of the major forms of education and entertainment in the 21st Century. Podcasting is cross curricular and requires the utilization of all of the DoDEA Career and College Ready Standards. For example, in English language arts podcasting requires students to use text complexity and development of reading comprehension and research and prepare for Their podcast. Students in grade 7 through grade 12 will participate at the appropriate level of complexity required as it increases from beginning reading to the college and career readiness level. Students will steadily grow in their ability to make connections among ideas and between texts as they prepare their podcasts. Students will plan, revise, edit, and produce their podcast. They will research, integrate their ideas and information, plan, and sometimes collaborate with their teachers, experts online, etc. They will then develop useful oral communication and interpersonal skills during the creation of their podcasts.
