0363 - Teacher, Career Practicum (formerly Teacher, Coordinator Work Experience)
Must be fully qualified in a DoDEA approved Career Technical Education (CTE) Category. Course work must include at least 3 semester hours in career counseling or career guidance.
9001 - 9051 - Advanced Placement (AP) Teachers - 9001 - 9051 Advanced Placement (AP) Teachers
Educators assigned to teach an Advanced Placement (AP) course must be DoDEA certified or certifiable in the content area. Must provide certificate of completion of a 5-day (or its time equivalent) AP College Board sponsored or endorsed AP training for each AP course. AP teachers who have not previously completed the AP College Board training will be required to submit certificate of completion for the appropriate training to the DoDEA Education Licensure Unit prior to teaching an AP course.

A minimum of 18 semester hours of American Sign Language course work is required. Educators who hold a certification from American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) or who have met the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI will have met these requirements).

A minimum 24 semester hours of Arabic coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.

A major in art or a minimum of 30 semester hours in art is required. Course work must include one course in each of the following areas: methods of teaching art, drawing, painting, art history, and sculpture or ceramics. A minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level art course work is required.

A major in business or a minimum of 30 semester hours in the field of business is required. Course work must include one accounting course, a minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level business courses and a minimum of 9 semester hours in computer science courses.

A minimum of 24 semester hours in the field of chemistry to include 12 semester hours of upper-level chemistry courses is required.
0370 - Teacher, Chinese Mandarin (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Chinese Mandarin coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0361 - Teacher, Computer Science*
A major in computer science, a minimum of 18 semester hours in computer science or 12 semester hours in computer science with additional qualification as a teacher of mathematics, science, or business is required. Course work must include programming languages such as JAVA, C++, VISUAL BASIC or other equivalent computer programming course work.
0369 - Teacher, Culinary Arts
Possess a Baccalaureate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college/university; AND Possess a Culinary Arts degree from an U.S. accredited Culinary Institute (a minimum of 18-month culinary program); AND Complete 9 semester hours in professional teacher education such as Educational Psychology/Learning Process, Classroom Management and Discipline, and Educational Technology within the first 2 years of the appointment; AND Must qualify in one other secondary teacher category. or, Possess a Baccalaureate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college/university; AND Possess a Culinary Arts degree from a U.S. accredited Culinary Institute (a minimum of 18-month culinary program); AND Acquire a DoDEA or state certificate in one other secondary classroom teacher category by the end of the fifth school year of employment.
0313 - Teacher, Drama (SS)
A minimum of 24semester hours in dramatic arts or a minimum of 9 semester hours in dramatic arts plus sufficient additional course work in English to total at least 30 semester hours is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level course work in English, communication arts, or drama is required.
0379 - Teacher, Dutch (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Dutch coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0310 - Teacher, English (SS)
A minimum of 24 semester hours in English/Language Arts is required. Course work must include a course in each English literature, American literature, composition (writing process). A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level coursework in English is required.
0371 - Teacher, French (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of French coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0330 - Teacher, General Science (SS)
A minimum of 24 semester hours in the field of general science to include a minimum of 12 semester hours of upper-level science courses is required. Course work must include one course in each of the following: life science, earth science, and physical science.
0372 - Teacher, German (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of German coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0334 - Teacher, Health
A major in health or a minimum of 30 semester hours in specific health related course work is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level health courses.
0336 - Teacher, Health Care
A state OR DoDEA professional teacher certificate in any secondary area AND a current valid license as a Registered Nurse AND 2 ½ years of experience at the level that demonstrates instruction or supervision of employees in a health care field is required.
0365 - Teacher, Home Economics*
A major in home economics or a minimum of 30 semester hours in home economics is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level home economics courses.
0352 - Teacher, Humanities (SS)
Must be fully qualified in any Fine Arts, with an additional 9 semester hours of course work in English or social studies. OR Must be fully qualified in English or social studies, with an additional 9 semester hours of fine arts.
0378 - Teacher, Italian (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Italian coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0375 - Teacher, Japanese (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Japanese coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0312 - Teacher, Journalism (SS)
A minimum of 24 semester hours in journalism or a minimum of 9 semester hours in journalism plus sufficient additional course work in related fields such as communication, speech, or English to total at least 24 semester hours is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level course work in the field of English, communication arts, speech, or journalism is required.
0376 - Teacher, Korean (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Korean coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0373 - Teacher, Latin (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Latin coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0340 - Teacher, Mathematics (SS)
A minimum of 24 semester hours with a minimum of 12 semester hours in of upper-level course work in mathematics is required. Course work must be in at least 4 of the following content areas: Algebra, Statistics, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Method of Teaching Mathematics, or History of Mathematics. Only mathematics credits obtained directly from a mathematics or mathematics education department will be accepted.
0351 - Teacher, Music
A major in music or a minimum of 30 semester hours in music is required. Course work must include one course each in methods of teaching music, methods of vocal music instruction and instrumental music methods instruction. A minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level music course work is required. A second category is not required.
0355 - Teacher, Physical Education
A major in physical education or a minimum of 30 semester hours in physical education is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level physical education courses.
0333 - Teacher, Physics (SS)
A minimum of 24 semester hours in the field of physics to include 12 semester hours of upper-level physics courses is required.
0320 - Teacher, Social Studies (SS)
A minimum of 24 semester hours in social studies. Course work must include at least one course each in U.S. history, world history, political science, and geography. A minimum of 12 upper level semester hours in social studies is required.
0374 - Teacher, Spanish (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Spanish coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0311 - Teacher, Speech (SS)
A minimum of 24 semester hours in speech and dramatic arts or a minimum of 9 semester hours in speech plus sufficient additional course work in English to total at least 24 semester hours is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level course work in the field of English, communication arts, or speech is required.
0366 - Teacher, Technology Education*
A major in industrial technology or industrial arts, or a minimum of 30 semester hours in technology education or industrial arts is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level course work in technology education is required. Course work should include such courses as: Construction Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Communication Technology, Energy Power, Transportation Technology, Industrial Arts Curriculum Project, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
0377 - Teacher, Turkish (SS)
A minimum 24 semester hours of Turkish coursework or a minimum score of Intermediate High on OPI from ACTFL is required. A minimum of 6 semester hours of theory and methodology of teaching a foreign language is required.
0301 - Teacher, Video Communications
Applicant must be fully qualified for another secondary position, and in addition have a minimum of 6 semester hours in courses directly related to video communications systems. Creditable course work must include video production design and processes. Two years of full-time experience teaching video communications may be substituted for 3 semester hours of the required course work. Industry certification in video processing software may be considered in lieu of up to 3 semester hours of course work in this area.
