Teachers assigned to teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses must complete, for each course they are assigned to teach, a 5-day (or its time equivalent) AP College Board sponsored or endorsed training. All current AP teachers and any teacher aspiring to teach AP courses will be required to submit verification that they have completed the required AP College Board training for each specific AP course they are assigned to teach. AP teachers who have not previously completed the AP College Board training will be required to complete and submit the appropriate training to the DoDEA HQ Licensure Unit prior to teaching an AP course.

DoDEA or State certificate as a Chinese (Mandarin) Language Teacher or, DoDEA or State certificate as a secondary classroom teacher in any category AND Chinese (Mandarin) communication skill as verified by an ACTFL Foreign Language Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) rating of at least an intermediate high score, or, applicants must possess four of the following: 1. Chinese (Mandarin) communication skill as verified by an ACTFL Foreign Language Oral Proficiency Interview (OP1) rating of at least an intermediate high score; and 2. English language communication skill as verified by an ACTFL English Language Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) rating of at least an intermediate high score; and 3. A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting 4. 15 semester hours in "professional teacher education" methods courses before the third year of employment; and 5. DoDEA or State certificate as a secondary classroom teacher by the end of the fifth school year of employment. 0361 - Teacher, Computer Science*
A major in computer science, a minimum of 18 semester hours in computer science or 12 semester hours in computer science with additional qualification as a teacher of mathematics, science, or business is required. Course work must include programming languages such as JAVA, C++, VISUAL BASIC or other equivalent computer programming course work.
0369 - Teacher, Culinary Arts
Possess a Baccalaureate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college/university; AND Possess a Culinary Arts degree from an U.S. accredited Culinary Institute (a minimum of 18-month culinary program); AND Complete 9 semester hours in professional teacher education such as Educational Psychology/Learning Process, Classroom Management and Discipline, and Educational Technology within the first 2 years of the appointment; AND Must qualify in one other secondary teacher category. or, Possess a Baccalaureate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college/university; AND Possess a Culinary Arts degree from a U.S. accredited Culinary Institute (a minimum of 18-month culinary program); AND Acquire a DoDEA or state certificate in one other secondary classroom teacher category by the end of the fifth school year of employment.

A major in drama, a minimum of 30 semester hours in dramatic arts or a minimum of 9 semester hours in dramatic arts plus sufficient additional course work in English to total at least 30 semester hours is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level course work in English, communication arts, or drama is required.

A major in home economics or a minimum of 30 semester hours in home economics is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level home economics courses.
0352 - Teacher, Humanities
Must be fully qualified in art, music, English, or social studies. Applicant must have completed a minimum of 9 semester hours in other related fields such as: humanities, art, music, history, drama, theater, literature, dance, or philosophy.

Course work must include one course each in methods of teaching music, methods of vocal music instruction and instrumental music methods instruction. A major in physical education or a minimum of 30 semester hours in physical education is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level physical education courses.

A major in foreign language or a minimum of 30 semester hours of foreign language course work in the subject area for which applying is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level foreign language course work is required.
0311 - Teacher, Speech
A major in speech, a minimum of 30 semester hours in speech and dramatic arts, or a minimum of 9 semester hours in speech plus sufficient additional course work in English to total at least 30 semester hours is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level course work in English, communication arts, journalism, or speech is required.
0366 - Teacher, Technology Education*
A major in industrial technology or industrial arts, or a minimum of 30 semester hours in technology education or industrial arts is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level course work in technology education is required. Course work should include such courses as: Construction Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Communication Technology, Energy Power, Transportation Technology, Industrial Arts Curriculum Project, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
0301 - Teacher, Video Communications
Applicant must be fully qualified for another secondary position, and in addition have a minimum of 6 semester hours in courses directly related to video communications systems. Creditable course work must include video production design and processes. Two years of full-time experience teaching video communications may be substituted for 3 semester hours of the required course work. Industry certification in video processing software may be considered in lieu of up to 3 semester hours of course work in this area.
0368 - Teacher, World Language (American Sign Language)
A bachelor’s degree or higher in any academic discipline area. A minimum of 18 semester hours of American Sign Language course work is required. Course work should include Foundations of Education of the D/HH: History Trends and Culture, The linguistics of American Sign Language, Methods of Teaching ASL, ASL Level IV: Proficiency in American Sign Language or other equivalent American Sign Language course work. Preference given to candidates with a certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA), and/or successfully completing the American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI). An unencumbered professional teaching license in content area or its state equivalent will be considered to have fulfilled these requirements.Â
